Lorenzo Ghiberti LORENZO GHIBERTI EDUCATION AND TRAINING Lorenzo Ghiberti was born as Lorenzo di Bartolo in 1378 in Florence, Italy. His mother's second husband, Bartolo di Michele trained Lorenzo as a goldsmith. Ghiberti also received training as a painter.
