During English colonization of America, the three important ideas were religion, economics, and government. Behind every idea the most important reasons for colonization were to seek religious freedom, economic opportunity and refuge. But most important was for the English to seek religious freedom. Not only were many colonies founded for religious purposes, but religion played an integral role in every colonial Americans life. Colonies in Massachusetts, New Haven, Maryland, and Pennsylvania were especially built for religious purposes. In the frontier of colonizing America there were two influential men that influenced how colonies were set up, John Winthrop and John Smith. Both establishing colonies that is very different from one another.
