Overcrowding
In the Untied States today, there are more than two million inmates in jail. Most people think that most of these prisoners are in jail for serious crimes such as murder, but in reality, more than one-half of the prison population consists of minor offenders whose crimes consist of drug offenses and property crimes. Overcrowding in US jails and prisons is a serious problem that the United States if facing, and there needs to be something done about it.
In the last 10 years, amazingly, the prison population has doubled. One man says that this is the “most punishing decade in history”. But ironically, despite the growth rate rising, the crime rate
